About the Land Use Profile
In October 2023, Gallatin County initiated a process to create a Future Land Use Map (FLUM) and Housing Strategy (HS) that build on the vision and priorities for future land use established in the 2021 Growth Policy. As part of this effort, the project team has created an interactive Land Use Profile, separated into two parts:
- Part 1: Existing Conditions highlights the various topics that inform countywide land use conditions as they exist today.
- Part 2: Development Trends and Suitability depicts recent development activity throughout the county and highlights areas of the county that would be most suitable for higher-density development based on existing land use conditions. Development Suitability is addressed in the Suitability Model step of the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) and is described in Step 1 - Development Suitability Analysis in the FLUM Story Map.
The information provided in the Land Use Profile, along with existing County plans and policies, will be used to inform the County’s FLUM and HS.
