Zoning Reform Effort Launches with Draft Boundary Announcement!

Following a series of Community Listening Sessions on Zoning Reform and multiple public meetings last year, the County Commission announced that they will be pursuing growth area focused zoning reform. This includes efforts to expand and/or refine zoning in areas of the County facing the greatest growth pressures and land use conflict.

The proposed growth area boundary, which defines the geographic limits of the zoning reform project, is now available for review! Once finalized, community discussions about zoning within that boundary will begin.

Upcoming Public Meeting

Community members have an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed boundary, the process used create it, and other upcoming planning initiatives like the Belgrade ETJ transition and Growth Policy Update at the Commission's regularly scheduled public meeting on May 12th, 2026. The meeting begins at 9 am in the Gallatin County Courthouse at 311 West Main Street, Bozeman in the Community Room on the 3rd Floor. Virtual participation is also possible via zoom link. The full meeting agenda and materials will be available prior to the meeting on the Commission's public meeting page.

The public is invited and encouraged to register for updates and participate in the upcoming effort to implement and refine zoning within this boundary. Scroll down to see how to get involved below!
